Trucker discovers that his co-worker is also his father

Published:

Two Wisconsin truck drivers worked together for two years before they discovered that they were not just co-workers but also father and son.

A report from WEAU News details the unlikely family reunion between the two truckers.

Nathan Boos, a driver for Rock Solid Transport out of Chippewa Falls, knew he was adopted but never bothered asking about his biological parents even though his adoptive parents knew their identity. “Growing up I always knew that I was adopted, it just never crossed my mind that I would ever find my parents,” Boos said.

One of the only pieces of information that Boos had about his biological father was that he was a long haul truck driver. He imagined that he’d probably run into his dad somewhere out on the road but he says that he wasn’t driven to find out his identity.

Everything changed, however, when Boos’ adopted mother noticed that his biological father, 56 year old Bob Degaro, was on her son’s Facebook friends list. Knowing that Boos’ biological father was a truck driver, his adopted mother helped him put two and two together: “She just went on my Facebook and went through my friends list and brought up his picture and I said get out of here,” Boos said.

Boos later reached out to Degaro via Facebook message to let him know about their unexpected family relation. Degaro says that he was shocked to learn that he had been working with his own son for years. “I about fell out of my seat,” he said.

The two men say that things are occasionally awkward but they are now working on moving their relationship from fellow drivers to father and son. Degaro will even attend Boos’ upcoming wedding — not as a co-worker but as a family member.
