Trucker finds himself stuck in the sand on North Carolina beach

North Carolina police say that a trucker’s directional mishap left him stuck on a soft sand beach yesterday afternoon.

The incident took place in Corolla, North Carolina, according to a report in the Coastland Times.

According to local reports, the trucker was on Route 12 North when he should have been on Route 12 South. Currituck County Sheriff Matt Beickert says that the truck driver didn’t realize that the roadway that he was on ended on the sandy Outer Banks beach.

There are signs leading up to the beach letting drivers know that the pavement ends.

Police say that by the time that the truck driver realized his mistake, it was too late. The driver tried to make a U-turn on the beach but found himself hopelessly stuck in the sand just a few feet from the ocean.

It took a wrecker two hours to recover the stuck truck.

No injuries were reported.

Beickert says that a truck gets stuck on the beach about once per summer: “He sees ocean and knows he’s gone the wrong way.
