Failed turn onto exit ramp leaves big rig dangling from overpass

A truck driver is expected to be okay after a crash that left his big rig hanging off of an overpass on a major Chicago expressway.

The crash was reported around 4 a.m. on Monday, December 17, according to reporting from ABC7Chicago.

Dangling Truck

Authorities say that the truck driver was attempting to make a tight turn from the outbound Kennedy Expressway onto the Foster Avenue exit, but didn’t make it. The truck driver then tried to back up, but accidentally hit a light pole, knocked down an electrical box, and partially drove off the road. The accident left the truck dangling off the overpass.

Because there were live wires under the dangling truck, it took crews four hours to clear the crashed truck.

No serious injuries were reported.

Both the Chicago Police Department and the Illinois Department of Transportation responded to the crash.
