Trucker veers off interstate, slams into bridge

Police in Texas are still working to determine why a truck driver drifted off of I-35 and crashed into a bridge in San Marcos early this morning.

Truck Driver Crashes Down Embankment Into Bridge Supports

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. According to reports, a truck driver was southbound on I-35 when he left the interstate, travelled through the median and down an embankment before colliding with the support columns for the Blanco River access road bridge.

Trucker veers off interstate, slams into bridge

According to city officials, the truck driver survived the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported.

Police are still investigating what caused the truck driver to lose control of his vehicle.

The Texas Department of Transportation has shut down the bridge while crews work to assess the damage sustained by the structure. Traffic is being detoured onto I-35.
