Sixty mile per hour winds forced Rhode Island transportation officials to close all three major bridges in the state to all commercial vehicles.
The Newport Pell Bridge has been closed in both directions in part because of a truck rollover caused by high winds, state police said Friday afternoon. And traffic on the Jamestown and Mount Hope bridges is restricted because of wind.
All 3 major bridges in Rhode Island- the Newport, Jamestown and Mt. Hope – are now closed to commercial vehicles, including school busses. This after a truck accident on the Newport closed the westbound lane and reduced eastbound traffic to one lane. Wind is in excess of 58mph. pic.twitter.com/slsvjat2vP

It is unclear as to when the bridges will reopen to commercial vehicle traffic.
