Trucks banned on major Rhode Island bridges

Winter Storm Riley blasts East Coast

Sixty mile per hour winds forced Rhode Island transportation officials to close all three major bridges in the state to all commercial vehicles.

Three Bridges Closed To Truck Traffic

The Newport Pell Bridge has been closed in both directions in part because of a truck rollover caused by high winds, state police said Friday afternoon. And traffic on the Jamestown and Mount Hope bridges is restricted because of wind.

It is unclear as to when the bridges will reopen to commercial vehicle traffic.
