Two people are injured after a bus driver ran a stop sign and collided with an oncoming semi truck.
The accident occurred on Monday, March 12th at approximately 6:00 a.m. in St. Joseph County, Michigan.
Michigan State Police say that, according to witnesses, a St. Joseph County Transportation Authority Bus was traveling east on US 131 near Riverside Drive and Stears Road when it ran a stop sign and collided with a northbound semi truck. The force of the impact crushed the front end of the bus and tore the rear wheels from the semi truck.
The truck driver was not injured in the incident but two people from inside the bus, the driver and a passenger, were taken to a nearby hospital with a cut to the head and a bloody nose, respectively, reported WWMT News.
As of 3:15 p.m., Us 131 is closed from Riverside Drive to Stears Road as crews work to clear the debris and investigate the incident.
