A Utah man lost his life after colliding with a semi truck in Spanish Fork, Utah around 5:45 a.m. Friday.

The Utah Highway Patrol said a man in a Ford Ranger pickup truck was driving on I-15 northbound when he lost control near 8000 South.

UHP said the pickup truck may have hit a patch of black ice then flipped over the median after hitting cable fence wires and went into oncoming traffic, where he was hit by a semi truck on I-15 southbound.

4-Wheeler Loses Control

The man in the pickup truck died at the scene. The semi truck driver went to the hospital in fair condition.

All traffic was diverted off the freeway until about 9:30 a.m., when the highway was reopened.
