Trailer jockey helps rookie trucker ‘struggling with the basics’

This gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "on the job training."

A trailer jockey is taken aback by how much a new driver seems to be confused by the basics of trucking a video that’s gone viral on social media.

During his interaction with the unnamed rookie driver, the self-described “trailer jockey” films as he tries to help the new driver understand that he’s run afoul of a concrete block.

He writes:

“I work as a hostler/trailer jockey for a large logistics company that moves freight. On Friday, I was getting a 53′ trailer scaled on the company scale when this kid came up to the spotter almost in tears, needing help. After finishing up I went to assist him in his troubles. I decided to film because he wasn’t one of our company drivers and wanted to cover myself if something happened. Once I found out he was green around the ears, I decided to teach him the right way and point out a few extras. As you can see in the video, I showed him what was wrong, then had him do the work to understand how to do this again. At the end of the video, you can hear him excited as he was defeated after trying for 80 minutes.”

The video has since gone viral on Facebook, with more than 40,000 shares.  You can take a look at the video clip below.
