VIDEO: Police say that trucker was distracted when he hit motorcyclist

Published:

Police say that distracted driving is to blame for a truck vs. motorcycle crash that knocked a man off of his bike.

Police say that the incident happened at 1 p.m. on April 24 outside of Winnipeg. Authorities said that “Several witnesses saw the 50yo semi driver on his phone in the intersection” moments before he ran a red light and collided with a 35 year old motorcyclist.

Luckily, the motorcyclist survived with only minor injuries.

Police say that the trucker was charged with distracted driving and running the red light — a $406 ticket.

Manitoba police say that they hope that the video serves as a reminder of the dangers of distracted driving.
