Wagonhound Rest Area closed for the summer

The Wagonhound Rest Area is closing down as of June 7 for the replacement of the I-80 bridge decks at the Wagonhound interchange.

The rest stop is located just off of I-80 between Laramie and Rawlins in Elk Mountain, Wyoming. It is scheduled to be closed June through September 2018.

According to Laramie Live, traffic will be detoured using I-80’s exit and entrance ramps for the remainder of the summer.

WYDOT suggests using the Fort Steele rest area for westbound traffic and the Summit rest area for eastbound traffic.

Drivers are urged to to “exercise caution and drive carefully through work zones and be aware of traffic patterns in the work area.”

For more information about the project, you may call WYDOT District 1 Public Information Specialist Matt Murphy at 307-745-2142.
