An Alabama-based trucking company suddenly announced that they are going out of business, leaving their drivers without a job.
On Wednesday, May 1, Dothan-Alabama based trucking company Williams Trucking LLC sent out a surprise memo letting its workers know that they were shutting down for good. The memo instructs the company’s drivers to return their trucks and trailers to the company terminal.
From the memo:
“Clean all the stuff of out your truck and have someone pick you up. As long as everthing goes smooth (all paperwork turned in, and all your equipment turned in, all your equipment there, and no issues) you will be paid for all your miles. We are closing down,”
One of the company’s drivers told WDHN that they had no warning that the company would be shutting down for good. He said, “We were rolling already, but (I) got that message and listened to it and I had to pull over and make sure I was listening to what I was listening to.”
Williams Trucking has been in operation since 1994 and employs just under 50 truck drivers.
