Beloved mom and pop truck stop destroyed by fire

Published:

An iconic Oklahoma truck stop is considered to be a total loss after it burned down on Friday.

The fire happened early on Friday, January 25,, at Ed’s Truck Stop off of I-40 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, according to 5NewsOnline.

Sadly there was a classic Lincoln convertible inside worth about $150k. Building is a total loss, and the economic effect will be more devastating in a small town like this.

Multiple agencies including the Sallisaw Fire Department responded to the fire. Fire crews were able to put the fire out before it reached the fuel pumps, but the truck stop building is considered to be a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities say that the cause of the truck stop fire is still under investigation.

Sallisaw Fire Chief Anthony Armstrong says that this is not the first time that the truck stop has burned. “Actually, it burned probably 18 to 20 years ago, it burned completely down and was rebuilt at that time, so it’s a second go-round,” he said.

You can see what’s left of Ed’s in the video clip below.
