A group of truckers known for working to organize protest activities to raise awareness about trucking issues was recently featured on a segment on MSNBC.
MSNBC met with ‘Black Smoke Matters’ members in Jackson, Georgia, to discuss various issues in trucking including parking and driver training.
Much of the conversation focused on the increased tax burden that the drivers face due to the fact that the Trump administration did away with their per diem, which allowed drivers to deduct some daily expenses from their taxes.
‘Black Smoke Matters’ began as a Facebook group and grew to a membership of several thousand drivers. The group has organized numerous protest activities to raise awareness about trucking issues like the ELD Mandate, driver training standards, and Hours of Service regulation problems.
