Cameras capture gas tanker with brake trouble crashing down embankment

Published:

This week, surveillance cameras captured the frightening downhill journey of a gas tanker truck driver who was reportedly having brake trouble.

The footage was captured on Monday, August 12, in Clairton, Pennsylvania.

In the video, you can see the loaded gas tanker traveling at a high rate of speed down hill near the Clairton Coke Works plant.

The truck crashed down an embankment through a wooded area and reportedly came to a stop partially resting on the train tracks. A train was nearby but officials were able to stop it in time to prevent a crash.

Two witnesses told police that the truck was emitting smoke before the crash. Local news station WTAE reports that fire officials said that the truck was having “brake trouble.”

The truck driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
