Police have released gut-wrenching surveillance video of crash involving a car driver who failed to stop for a red light and plowed into a bobtail semi truck in Michigan earlier this week.

The crash occurred on the morning of Tuesday, May 28, at the intersection of Telegraph and Northline Roads in Taylor, Michigan, according to WWJ News Radio.

Taylor police said that the semi truck driver in the video had the green light for about 10 seconds when a sedan ran the red light, colliding with the semi truck as it made its way through the intersection.

The crash caused heavy damage to both vehicles.

Two passengers in the car, Heather Lee Hutchinson and Zachary Tyler Rich, died in the crash. The driver of the car is hospitalized in critical condition.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses later told police that they say the car speeding and weaving in and out of traffic.

Police say that they have not ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the crash and that they may press charges against the car driver.
