CHP To Amp Up CMV Enforcement After Truck Fires

Published:

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says that it will be increasing commercial vehicle enforcement along a major interstate after a recent uptick in truck fires.

On Tuesday, August 20, the CHP’s Gold Run division announced via Facebook that they would be increasing enforcement on I-80 this week: “Due to the high level of commercial vehicle brake fires lately, the Gold Run area will be stepping up commercial enforcement this week. Extra commercial units will be in the area and the focus of the enforcement will be speed violations in brake check violations.”

The announcement comes after at least two major truck fires were reported on I-80 so far this month.
