Co-driver resting in sleeper berth loses life in crash

Published:

Nevada police say that team truck drivers were involved in a major crash this week that left one dead and the other critically injured.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, near Alamo, Nevada, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers say that a semi truck was hauling a load of stone from Idaho to a final destination in California when the crash occurred.

The semi truck was traveling on SR 318 at mile marker 6 when driver of the truck for “unknown reasons” swerved off the roadway, police say. The truck driver then overcorrected, causing the truck to overturn.

The co-driver sleeping in the sleeper berth area was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The incident closed SR 318 for about two hours, resulting in major traffic delays.
