Oregon firefighters say that they were concerned that they had to teach a team of truck drivers how to chain up following a multi-vehicle crash that was captured on dash cam.
Local police say that crash happened just before midnight on Thursday, February 14, on Highway 97 near mile maker 29 in Sherman County, Oregon.
An officer with the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene, where there was already “a rolled over semi behind the patrol car and a jackknifed semi 100 yards in front of the patrol car” when a third semi truck lost control and skidded into the patrol cruiser.
Fortunately, the patrol car was unoccupied when the crash occurred and no one was hurt.
In a Facebook post from the South Sherman Fire and Rescue Department, firefighters say that they found it “extremely concerning” that neither truck driver in the third semi truck knew how to chain up.
I find it extremely concerning that a team of drivers from the biggest trucking company in the US asked members of South Sherman how to put on tire chains. I would like to thank 19 year old firefighter Zack Fluhr for showing the two truck drivers how to put on their tire chains. Again please slow down, stay safe and watch out for Emergency Vehicles.
