Georgia authorities say that four people lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash involving semi trucks yesterday.
The crash happened at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, on northbound I-75 near Exit 218 in Henry County, Georgia, according to a report from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Police say that a pickup truck was slowing down for traffic caused by a previous crash when it was struck from the rear by a semi truck. The collision sent the pickup crashing into another semi truck, causing the vehicles to catch fire.
All four people inside the pickup truck were killed in the crash.
The truck driver who struck the pickup was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
A news release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department says that the truck driver who hit the pickup is at fault in the crash, but driver has not been named and it isn’t clear whether any charges have been filed at this time.
The incident shut down all lanes of northbound I-75 for nearly six hours, causing massive traffic backups and delays in the area. All lanes were reopened shortly before 6 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
