UPDATE September 12, 12:55 p.m.———————————————————
Indiana State Police have released additional information about this morning’s fatal pileup on southbound I-65.
Troopers say that the crash involved four semi trucks, one passenger vehicle, and a white delivery van.
The driver of the white van was killed in the crash. The driver of the passenger vehicle suffered serious head injuries.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley said that crash occurred because the driver of a southbound semi truck “didn’t notice” that traffic was slowed on the interstate due to a previous crash.
The interstate remains closed as of 1 p.m.
