Motorists captured frightening cellphone video of a stray CMV tire wreaking havoc on a New Jersey roadway.
The video was captured on Route 440 in Edison, New Jersey, earlier this week.
In the video, you can see that after rolling with traffic, the tire suddenly jumps the median into oncoming traffic and causes a violent collision with a jeep.
The Jeep driver, also an off-duty police officer, told ABC7, “Out of nowhere a tire jumps across the median from the opposite direction into our side of the roadway. Didn’t notice at the time but it struck the rear of my wife’s car and came directly toward the front of my Jeep.”
Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.
New Jersey police believe that the tire came from a dump truck and they are trying to locate the driver.
The video clip has been viewed more than 660,000 times since it was shared on Facebook.
