Major ELD manufacturer is shutting down for good

Published:

An Electronic Logging Device (ELD) manufacturer that enticed truckers to buy with the promise of “no monthly fees” is closing down its operation.

ZED Connect announced on their company’s website that they are “phasing out” their Cummins-backed ZED ELD product. ZED Connect touted their product as the “Zero Monthly Fee ELD.”

In a press released, ZED ELD says that fleets must find another ELD solution by January 31, 2019.

“Our priority is ensuring our customers remain compliant and have access to necessary ELD services during this transition,” the company said.

The product originally retailed for $200 and debuted in mid-2017.

ZED ELD is also offering a refund to anyone who purchased the product on or after October 1, 2018. However, those who purchased before October 1st, 2018, will be stuck with a piece of hardware that’s not operational.
