Man arrested for stealing semi truck to impress girlfriend

Published:

A Louisiana man is facing a felony charge for allegedly stealing a semi truck in order to take his girlfriend for a ride.

The theft and arrest both happened on early in the morning on March 24 in West Monroe, Louisiana, according to WVLT.

Officers with the West Monroe Police Department say that they pulled over a semi truck traveling eastbound on Mitchell Street at around 2 a.m. The officer said that the trailer wheels were locked and that they were leaving large black marks on the roadway.

They found Dominique Jefferson Jr., who turned 21 on March 24, behind the wheel of the truck.

Jefferson told police that he did not have a CDL and that he had stolen the truck from nearby MTM Trucking Co. in order to take his girlfriend for a ride. He told police that he had intended to return the truck to MTM Trucking later that morning.

Jefferson was arrested and has been charged with felony motor vehicle theft.
