Maverick to sell off reefer division to KLLM

Published:

Maverick Transportation has announced that they will be selling their refrigerated division to Mississippi-based trucking company KLLM Transport Services.

Maverick announced the sell off via press release on Friday, May 24.

Maverick says that they have included provisions to take care of their drivers during the transition process:

“They [KLLM] will be purchasing selected assets and offering a very attractive employment package to our drivers.

We have been working very closely with KLLM to provide our drivers a smooth, seamless transition to their team. KLLM is a leader in their industry and our companies share a passion for safety and doing things right. Taking care of our drivers is our primary focus and will continue to be through the transition process.”

Maverick informed their drivers of the sale yesterday via a PeopleNet message that read:

“Maverick entered the temperature controlled business in 2010 as part of a diversification strategy as we were coming out of the Great Recession. After 9 years of hard work building our business, we have made the very difficult decision to exit the temperature controlled space and focus on our strengths, our flatbed and specialized business units. – We have entered into an agreement to sell our temperature controlled division to KLLM Transport Services based in Jackson, MS. They will be purchasing selected tractors and offering employment to our drivers. KLLM is a leader in the temperature controlled business and shares our passion for safety and doing things right. We are grateful our drivers in our temperature controlled business chose Maverick for their driving career and although we are exiting the temp business, we want them to have a seamless opportunity to work with a company we know and respect. KLLM operates solely in the temperature controlled business and is very good at what they do…”

Maverick says that they are working with customers to mitigate disruptions during the transition.

The KLLM team is scheduled to be onsite at Maverick headquarters on May 28 to meet with drivers.

Maverick is based in Little Rock, Arkansas, and employs more than 1700 truck drivers.
