Troopers say that at least 50 vehicles collided during winter weather conditions. In images captured at the scene, you can see that several of the vehicles are semi trucks.
Update.. 1 person has been killed from a 30 car pile up near Altoona. Snow showers are moving east into eastern Iowa this afternoon impacting the area between noon and 3 pm to bring moderate snow showers and may cause some issues. Initial reports indicated that one person was killed, but police now say that the person was seriously injured. It isn’t yet clear how many others could be hurt.
Westbound I-80 is expected to remain closed for several more hours.
