Ohio transportation officials have released a truck driver’s dash cam video of a multi-vehicle crash to demonstrate how quickly vehicles can lose control on frozen bridges.
The incident was captured on I-75 near Lima, Ohio. The dash cam video was shared by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) on Thursday, January 31.
In the video, you can see that a black pickup truck loses control on the bridge right in front of the truck driver and triggers a scary chain-reaction crash.
ODOT writes:
We will tell you, this video is scary. Provided by our partners at the Ohio State Highway Patrol, it demonstrates two important things to keep in mind during the winter. One, that bridges and overpasses freeze first and can remain icy when other sections of pavement are not. And two, that should your vehicle become disabled along a highway, remain inside it if possible. It’s the safest place to wait for help. You’ll see why when you watch. No serious injuries resulted in this incident. #SaferOhio
