Oregon log truckers convoy against cap and trade bill

A group of Oregon log truck drivers are demonstrating against an emissions cap and trade bill that they say would harm their livelihoods.

On the morning of Wednesday, June 19, a group of log truck drivers gathered outside the Oregon State Capitol in Salem to protest House Bill 2020, which just passed through the state’s House yesterday. According to KPTV, a group of truck drivers from all over Oregon gathered to convoy to the Capitol building to protest the bill.

The bill is designed to rein in on greenhouse gas emissions, but members of the logging industry say that it will increase fuel costs and could even cost them their jobs.

House Bill 2020 is expected to be up for a vote in the Senate within a matter of days.
