22-year-old leaves car, jumps in front of semi truck on interstate

Published:

Investigators in Texas say that they believe that a woman who was killed after stepping out in front of a semi truck was suicidal.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, in the downtown Houston, Texas, area, according to Click2Houston.

Police say that a couple were traveling southbound in a car on I-45 near Scott Street when the woman, 22, became emotionally distraught and started making suicidal statements. The woman reportedly jumped out of the moving car and ran into traffic on I-45.

A southbound semi truck driver did not see the woman and struck her. She died as a result of the crash.

No one else was injured.

The crash shut down southbound I-45 for hours but all lanes have since reopened.

Police say that the truck driver and the woman’s boyfriend are cooperating with police.

No charges have been filed.
