Police body cam video shows how staged crashes targeting truckers work

Published:

A new investigation by WWLTV uses police body cam footage to show you just how staged crash scams targeting truckers are pulled off.

The investigation focuses on a scheme involving faked commercial vehicle crashes in New Orleans during which WWLTV says that scammers pack a car full of people, sideswipe a truck, plant witnesses to blame the truck driver, then file a lawsuit in hopes of winning a big payout.

Last month, U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Louisiana indicted five people on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud and Wire Fraud in connection with an alleged staged crash in June 2017. Investigators believe that the scheme has been conducted dozens of times in the New Orleans area.
