Illinois State Police say that two truck drivers were injured during a multi-vehicle crash this morning.
The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. on Monday, December 2, near Troy, Illinois.
Local news outlet KSDK reports that a semi truck jackknifed on the ramp from I-70 west to I-55 south during icy road conditions, coming to a stop with the trailer blocking the roadway.
A second truck then hit the first truck’s trailer, splitting it into two and leaving large amounts of debris scattered on the roadway.
The second truck also reportedly hit an SUV while a fourth vehicle slid off the road and hit a guardrail.
The driver of the first truck suffered serious injuries and required extraction. A passenger in that truck was transported to the hospital.
The driver of the second truck suffered minor injuries.
The ramp is expected to remain shut down for a significant period of time.
