A major pileup involving a semi truck occurred in Houston, Texas, this morning.

The crash occurred around 6 a.m. on Monday, June 3, on northbound I-45 at Mt. Houston Road.
The crash occurred while traffic was slowed for an earlier two vehicle collision on northbound I-45.
The truck driver told local news station ABC13 that he did not fall asleep but that he wasn’t able to stop his truck in time to avoid the crash. Eleven vehicles in total were involved in the pileup.

Three people including two children were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The incident shut down all lanes of northbound I-45 for hours, resulting in miles-long traffic backups, but some lanes have now reopened.
This is a developing story and the crash remains under investigation.
