‘Senseless’ mob burns and loots semi

Published:

California police say that an illegal ‘sideshow’ ended with a city bus and a semi truck looted and set on fire on Sunday.

The incident started on Sunday afternoon in the Oakland, California, area according to CBS San Francisco.

Authorities say that a growing crowd shut down the intersection of 42nd Avenue and International Boulevard for a sideshow — an informal car stunt show.

As more people gathered for the sideshow, a semi truck and a city bus became trapped in the intersection around 9 p.m. Witnesses on the scene say that the crowd turned on the commercial vehicles, throwing paper products from inside the truck’s trailer to others on the street.

The crowd reportedly set the semi truck and city bus on fire before police responded to the scene to disperse the gathering.

No injuries were reported.

No arrests were made.

The Oakland Fire Department responded to the scene to help put out the burning vehicles. In a Facebook post about the incident, they wrote, “There have been numerous injuries from these dangerous and lawless gatherings throughout the Town…luckily no one in the bus or semi was hurt as a result of this senseless mob. Enough!”
