Serious multiple semi truck crash on I-70 claims the life of truck driver

A truck driver lost his life in a three truck crash on I-70 in Missouri early this morning.

The crash occurred around 3:20 a.m. on Friday, August 9, near Boonville, Missouri.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Westbound I-70 near Boonville is backed up due to a fatal crash. We have a reporter on the scene.

Police say that near mile marker 98 on I-70, an eastbound semi truck crossed over into the westbound lanes and struck two other semi trucks. One of trucks involved was totally engulfed in flames after the collision.

Unfortunate accident that occurred this morning. at least one of the drivers didn't make it. I 70 mile marker 98.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has confirmed that one truck driver lost his life in the crash.

The condition of the other two truck drivers is unknown.

The crash closed I-70 for hours and resulted in miles-long traffic backups.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
