Severe traffic backups reported after crash involving tanker truck

Wisconsin transportation officials are warning drivers to seek alternate routes after a crash involving a tanker truck shut down all lanes of a major interstate.

The crash was reported around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, on southbound I-94/41 in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, according to The Journal Times.

According to reports, a Chevy Tahoe, a Jeep, and a tanker truck were involved in a collision that left the Tahoe pinned underneath the truck.

At least one driver was life-flighted from the scene with serious injuries. The tanker truck driver wasn’t hurt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The crash shut down all southbound lanes of the interstate and has caused such a serious backup that drivers are reportedly getting out of their vehicles and walking around.

Traffic is at a standstill in Racine County and people are walking on the interstate. A serious crash between an SUV and tanker has shutdown all southbound lanes of I-94 near Highway K in Mount Pleasant.
