Arkansas transportation officials say that a multiple semi truck crash has blocked an interstate tunnel in the northwestern part of the state.
The crash was reported around 10 a.m. on Thursday morning in the southbound lanes of I-49 through the Bobby Hopper Tunnel near Mountainburg, Arkansas.

Authorities say that three tractor trailers collided in the tunnel and that one of the trucks jackknifed.
It isn’t clear yet whether anyone was injured in the crash.

The incident has resulted in severe traffic backups as crews work to remove the crashed trucks in the tunnel. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
