Troopers catch ‘outlaw’ trucker whose CDL expired 24 years ago

Published:

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) recently shared a Facebook post about their encounter with a truck driver with a very-much-expired Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

According to a screenshot shared by CHP’s Gilroy Commercial Enforcement Facility, a truck driver who troopers encountered on May 31 had a CDL that expired on August 15, 1995.

The unnamed driver’s medical certificate expired on August 29, 1993.

The trucker’s trouble with CHP didn’t end with licensing issues. Troopers also said that the trucker failed to stop for a red light, had no log book in his possession, and that he was using his cellphone while driving around the facility. He also had no copy of his registration and no record of motor carrier permit.

The truck driver was placed out of service.

While some Facebook users praised CHP for making the catch, others were amazed that the driver had managed to operate without a valid CDL for 24 years.
