Troopers say no injuries after serious multi-truck crash

"Seat belts save lives," troopers said after the crash.

Nebraska State Police say that everyone walked away without injuries after a violent crash involving multiple semi trucks.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, near Giltner, Nebraska, according to the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP).

Troopers say that the crash happened on snowy I-80 at mile marker 323 about a mile from the Giltner interchange.

Nebraska troopers say that the crash happened when an eastbound semi truck crossed the median in to the westbound lanes of I-80, crashing into two other semi trucks. A fourth westbound semi truck then collided with the crashed trucks.

Images captured at the scene and shared by state police show extensive damage to the crashed semi trucks.

However, troopers say that none of the truck drivers involved were injured. In a Facebook post detailing the crash, troopers wrote, “Seat belts save lives.”

The crash shut down westbound I-80 between exits 318 and 324 for about two hours, but all lanes have reopened.

NSP says that winter weather conditions are causing travel problems statewide. They urge drivers to slow down and leave lots of stopping room.

The crash is still under investigation.
