Maryland State Police say that a truck driver was killed early this morning when his truck crashed off the Conowingo Dam.
Police say that the crash happened around 1:30 a.m on Tuesday in Conowingo, Maryland.
According to reports, the truck was traveling on US 1 at the Conowingo Dam when it crashed off the side of the dam and landed on the shore line below.

Police say that the truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation into the crash suggests that the truck driver failed to negotiate a turn. Heavy fog was reported in the area at the time of the crash.

US-1/Conowingo Road will be closed form 10 a.m. through noon while repairs are made to the dam.
