Truck driver sentenced to prison for meat theft

He was working under a fake name.

A California truck driver has been sentenced to prison for stealing a load of meat.

37-year-old truck driver, Gegham Avetisyan, was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison on Monday, October 21st after pleading guilty to one count of wire fraud in May of this year.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Avetisyan was working with a business in Olathe, Kansas under the false name of ‘Robert Ivanov,’ and was supposed to deliver the shipment of meat to three separate locations in California.

Prosecutors say that Avetisyan picked up the meat at a packing plant in Omaha, Nebraska, but never delivered it.
