Truck hauling spool gets wedged under overpass

Texas transportation officials are warning drivers that traffic delays have been reported after a semi truck hauling a large spool became wedged under an overpass.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, in Houston, Texas.

Authorities say that a semi truck hauling a large spool became stuck under the 610 West Loop at Highway 59 inbound, according to KHOU.

Only two lanes of traffic are getting by the stuck truck and traffic delays are being reported.

It isn’t clear how long it will take for crews to remove the stuck truck and spool.

Traffic incidents involving trucks hauling spools have become so frequent in the past couple of months that some have nicknamed Houston “Spool City.” Between October 25 and December 14 of 2018, five large spools came loose from the trucks that were hauling them. Many of these spools rolled through traffic.
