Trucker faces homicide charge for reportedly running over truck driver at Pilot

Authorities have issued a homicide charge to the truck driver who allegedly ran over and killed a fellow driver who was walking behind an Ohio truck stop.

Canadian truck driver Guillaume Pelletier, 23, was issued a charge of misdemeanor vehicular homicide for his role in the death of 29 year old truck driver Arman Meco, according to a report from WKBN.

The fatal pedestrian strike took place around 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, at the Pilot Travel Center truck stop off I-80 in Austintown, Ohio.

Investigators say that Meco had exited his truck and was walking across the truck stop parking lot when he was hit and dragged by Pelletier’s truck. Meco passed away at the scene.

Police say that Meco was wearing headphones and looking down at the ground when he was hit. They also said that after viewing video, they believe that Pelletier had enough time to stop to avoid hitting Meco but failed to do so.

Authorities say that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the fatal incident.
