Trucker hit by semi in truck stop parking lot perishes

Published:

A truck driver lost her life earlier this week when she was struck by a backing tractor trailer while walking in a truck stop parking lot in Virginia.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. on Monday night in Greensville County, Virginia, the Progress-Index reports.

According to the report, 55 year old West Virginia-based truck driver Erin Christine Queen stopped at a Pilot truck stop off of I-95 near Emporia.

Queen got out of her truck and was walking toward the store when she stopped near the front of her truck. It was then that she was struck by another semi truck backing near the fuel pumps.

Another driver reportedly alerted the truck driver that he had hit someone. Queen was run over a second time when the truck pulled forward.

Queen was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

No charges have been filed. Police do not suspect that alcohol was a factor in the fatal incident.
