Trucker thwarts man’s ‘suicide by truck’ attempt

Published:

A truck driver’s last second swerve saved the life of a man who was reportedly attempting suicide in this incident captured on dash cam.

The incident was captured on dash cam in Georgia on northbound I-85 at mile marker 160 on April 23rd, according to YouTube user

.

The dash cammer provided more information about the suicide by truck attempt on Reddit:

Driving F350 towing 20′ bowrider boat, no trailer brakes. Coming from Huntsville, AL to Charlotte, NC. On 85N in GA, approaching exit 160. Gentleman tries to commit suicide by traffic. I believe you can see him walk from his vehicle on the shoulder in front of the Semi in front of me. That driver did a fantastic job cutting the gap between the male and his parked van. The boat pushed me hard, you can hear the right front wheel lock up, and my mirror hitting the male’s arm. After stopping on the shoulder, the male was on his knees in the right travel lane in front of a stopped semi. He was yelling and gesturing, I assume asking the driver to run him over. Another passerby was a volunteer firefighter who called it in. Luckily multiple sheriff officers were on the (very close) next exit, and came code 1 the wrong way down the interstate. The detained the man, then sent him off for medical and psych evaluation. Hopefully he receives the treatment he needs, I’ll be buying a new mirror.
