Truckers name their favorite non-chain truck stops

Published:

There’s nothing wrong with stopping at some of the big chain truck stops, but sometimes you want to break out of the corporate box and support the mom and pop establishments.

Non-chain truck stops don’t have the big advertising budgets that Love’s and Pilots have, so the best way to hear about some of the smaller stops is simply to ask fellow truckers — so that’s exactly what we did!

Last week, a CDLLife app user asked fellow member for their recommendations for the best non-chain truck stops and more than a hundred drivers voiced their opinion.

Here are some of the top responses.

Oasis Travel Center, Robertsdale, Alabama.

Though this truck stop is a little bit out of the way, drivers say that they love the food and atmosphere at the Derailed Diner.

Little America Fuel Center, Little America, Wyoming.

This truck stop has been proving professional drivers with a “welcome oasis” since 1952.

Jubitz Truck Stop, Portland, Oregon.

This place has “almost everything you need or want,” according to user Rodger.

Dysart’s, Bangor, Maine.

This place has “great food” and “is always clean” according to CDLLife app user Matthew.

The Tiger Truck Stop, Grosse Tete, Louisiana.

Named after the tigers that the truck stop used to house, truckers now recommend the Tiger Truck Stop for its restaurant.

The Woodshed — Big Cabin, Oklahoma.

User Tony writes, “They have people come and help you fuel and wash windows.”
