One trucking company is working to help truck drivers stranded by the sudden Celadon closure to get home safely to their families.
Anderson, Indiana-based trucking company Carter Express and sister company Carter Logistics are on a mission to help drivers who were left in the lurch after Celadon abruptly shut their doors for good on Monday.
Since the closure, many former Celadon drivers who were out on the road when the tragic news broke have reported that their fuel cards didn’t work and that they weren’t sure how they will make it back home to their families.
Company leaders at Carter Express are doing all that they can to make sure that no former Celadon driver is left behind. They’ve asked all of their company drivers to give stranded Celadon drivers a free ride home if at all possible. If a ride isn’t possible, Carter Express has offered to buy a bus ticket to get stranded drivers where they need to go.
It’s always tough to lose a job, but it’s even harder on when it happens so close to Christmas. That’s why Carter Express is hoping to help those drivers who want to stay in the trucking industry by offering them a $1,500 sign on bonus to be paid out in December and a minimum of $200 per work day in the month of December.

Carter Express was founded with just five trucks in 1982 and has grown over the decades to employ around 900 drivers and to operate more than 800 trucks. The company has terminals in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.
