Woman and 3 kids killed in wrong way collision with semi truck

Published:

Tennessee police are investigating after a woman drove the wrong way along an interstate and caused a crash that killed four.

The crash occurred around 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 13, near Collierville, Tennessee.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says that 34 year old motorist Latricia Taylor was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-269 near Highway 57 with three children in her vehicle when the crash occurred.

Police say that as Taylor approached a semi truck driven by Khaleele Smith, Smith swerved into the other lane to try to avoid her. Taylor also swerved at the same time and caused a head on collision.

Taylor and a nine year old boy, a seven year old boy, and a three year old girl all died in the crash. Police say that no one inside the car was wearing a seatbelt.

Smith was uninjured.

WHNT reports that Taylor had consumed alcohol.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says that no charges have been filed at this time.
