Alert: Drivers Avoid I80/I94 at IL/IN Border

The Illinois Trucking Association today issued a warning that protesters plan to block I80/I94 at 4:00 pm near the Illinois-Indiana border.

According to a Facebook post on the Illinois Trucking Association’s page, “ITA has received a credible report that protesters are planning to march onto Interstate 80/Interstate 94 by blocking the first three exits (NB and SB) inside the state of Indiana (Calumet Ave, Indianapolis Blvd, and Kennedy Ave).”

The ITA is reported that protestors plan to enter the roadway at 4:00 pm today.

Please avoid this area and let other drivers know!

Also on Tuesday, Illinois State Police issued the following tips for staying safe as more protests are turning violent:

With the numerous planned peaceful protests and civil unrest occurring throughout the state and country, we wanted to share some safety tips:
▪️Be aware of suspicious activities/groups
▪️Call 911 if you witness any suspicious activity
▪️Watch your local news for current information
▪️If you hear of a planned protest, avoid the area
▪️Avoid any place with active police activity
▪️For Interstate closures follow our main twitter page @ILStatePolice, District 15 @ISPDistrict15, District Chicago @ChicagoISP, and District 5 @ISPDistrict5
▪️For local and street closures, reach out to your local police department by visiting their website/social media
▪️Most cities currently have curfews. Make sure you know what time it starts in your area.
