Published:

Three people lost their lives in a head-on crash with a semi truck in Iowa over the weekend.

The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday, December 5 near Altoona, Iowa.

Iowa State Police say a Volkswagen Golf driver entered I-80 going west in the eastbound lanes. The car collided head-on with an eastbound semi truck.

All three people traveling in the Golf, 28 year old driver Gustabo Salcedo, 24 year old passenger Diana Sanchez-Tello, and an unnamed infant, were killed in the crash.

The 59 year old semi truck driver was not seriously hurt.

Troopers say that the reason that Salcedo was driving the wrong way on I-80 is still under investigation.
