A truck driver was taken into custody over the weekend after striking a power pole and flipping his truck in two separate DUI incidents.
The accidents occurred on Sunday, August 30th just after 8 p.m. in Santa Rosa, California, the California Highway Patrol reports.
According to 5 KPIX News, the truck driver was operating his semi truck while intoxicated when he crashed into a power pole on South Moorland Avenue, downing a power line. The driver then reportedly continued driving and overturned his truck on Scenic Avenue near Langer Avenue, only a half mile from the initial crash.
The force of the second crash trapped the truck driver inside of the cab and dislodged the truck’s load of large pipes, strewing them across the ground. Luckily, firefighters were able to extricate the driver from the truck with only minor injuries.
Once the driver was rescued, officers say they observed him exhibiting signs of alcohol intoxication, and arrested him for DUI. According to reports, the driver had a blood alcohol level of over .08% at the time of his arrest.
